MOU signed between Institute of Foreign Affairs, Nepal (IFA) and China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU)
A Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) has been signed today between the Institute of Foreign
Affairs, Nepal (IFA) and China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) with a view to
promote and develop friendly relations in academic research, training and
sharing of best practices between the two institutions. The signing of the MOU
is one of the events held for the commemoration of the 60th year of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China. Under the
provisions of the MOU, the two sides will cooperate in research studies and
short-term and long-term training programmes to be chalked out in mutual
consultation.
CFAU has agreed to assist
IFA, within the framework of MOU, in capacity building and skills development
of the new foreign service officers of Nepal. CFAU and IFA have exchanged
cooperation and maintained academic partnership since the past. According to
CFAU, 28 foreign service officers from Nepal have completed various training
and academic courses in their University. The signing of the MOU has paved the
way for further strengthening the cooperation and exchange in the future.
Dr. Rishi Raj Adhikari, Executive Director of IFA and Dr. Qin Yaqing, President of CFAU signed the MOU amid a ceremony held at the CFAU, Beijing. Prior to the signing of the MOU, Dr. Adhikari held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Wang Fan, Vice President of the CFAU and discussed various matters of mutual interest between the IFA and CFAU. The two sides agreed to continue the existing exchange in the fields of training, academic discourse and research, among others. Mr. Nirmal Raj Kafle, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, was also present on the occasion. Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Beijing, 25 November 2015.
